Medical Disclaimer
Nyamko does not replace a pediatrician. The app gives general information about complementary feeding and family meals. It does not diagnose and does not prescribe treatment.
Emergencies
If a child cannot breathe, cough or cry, has swelling of the face, lips or tongue, wheezing, sudden drowsiness, or heavy vomiting after a new food — call 103 (ambulance in Ukraine) or 112 (emergency number in Ukraine and the EU) immediately. In other countries, call your local emergency number. Do not wait for the app to tell you what to do.
The "103 / 112" button is available in the app on the emergency screen and in the articles about reactions.
When to talk to a doctor
- before starting solids if the child was born prematurely or has eczema, a known allergy, a chronic condition, swallowing difficulties or problems gaining weight;
- before introducing allergens if there have been food reactions;
- any time something about the child's condition worries you.
Advice from a doctor who knows your child takes priority over the app. Enter what the doctor says not to give as a doctor's restriction, and any other advice in the «Other advice from the doctor» field.
Articles in the app
Short safety guidance is on the Safety tab:
- "Gagging or choking" — how to tell them apart and what to do;
- "Signs of an allergic reaction and when to call an ambulance";
- "How to introduce allergens", "Safe feeding", "What not to give before 1 year", "Storing and reheating baby food".
These articles do not replace first-aid training. We recommend taking a paediatric first-aid course.
